Duration: Postdoc and research assistant positions are for 2 years with the possibility of extension; the Ph.D. is about 5 years
The Jiang lab is hiring at different levels in social and affective neuroscience research. Research topics are flexible and will be organized in accordance with the applicants’ interests and expertise. Specific areas of interest could include (1) determining causal neural circuits relevant to social and emotional deficits and treatment effects using brain lesion or brain stimulation methods (transcranial magnetic stimulation [TMS], intracranial electrical stimulation) in neuropsychiatric/neurological populations, (2) identifying neuromarkers of social and emotional skills acquisition during typical and atypical development using brain imaging (functional near-infrared spectroscopy [fNIRS], functional magnetic resonance imaging [fMRI]) in infants or children. We are an interdisciplinary team and welcome applicants from various research backgrounds to join us!

Mentorship
You will work directly with Dr. Jiang and receive first-class mentorship for career development and to help you grow as a scientist. In the Jiang lab, you will have the freedom to conduct studies building on current lab research and/or develop your own project ideas. You will be imparted theoretical and methodological knowledge for your projects. You will receive weekly/bi-weekly feedback on your projects. Dr. Jiang will be accessible to all lab members via texts, emails, and calls. You will be involved in the scientific publishing and grant application processes. Your manuscripts will be returned with feedback within 2 weeks. You will be provided networking opportunities.
The team
You will join an inclusive, supportive, collaborative, and vibrant team. Studies in the team emphasize an interdisciplinary approach. Different working styles, career goals, genders, cultures, and backgrounds are all respected. The current team has diverse expertise in multimodal neuroimaging (e.g., fNIRS-based hyperscanning, fMRI), noninvasive neuromodulation (TMS), dynamic behavioral recording (e.g., eye- tracking), machine learning, meta-analytics (e.g., lesion network mapping), etc. The team has collected a large number of concurrent TMS-fMRI datasets in both healthy controls and patients with affective disorders. The datasets are available for analyses immediately. The team also has wide and active collaborations with labs across the campus.
